Worship Service and Location

Our Worship of God

Join us on Sunday at 10:00am and 5:00pm as we gather in the beautiful chapel of Heritage Funeral Homes.

The worship service is a time for us to come together as a community to learn, be encouraged, and to be challenged by God’s Word and most importantly to glorify God.

There are two reasons why man worships God. Man worships God because of who God is and because of who we are. We do not worship God just because of what God has done for us but for who He is.

Worship literally means “ascribing worth to.” When we praise people for a job well done, we are ascribing worth to them. Our response to God should be to praise, to worship, to ascribe worth. True biblical worship is ascribing worth and glory to God that the Psalmist represents in Psalm 96:5-9: “For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come into His courts! Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth!”

With Holy Communion served on the first Sunday of each month (with fellowship meals following during the fall and spring “semesters”), a visitor to Trinity Chapel will experience a service that is both reverent and joyful, ancient and timely, with a dialogue not only between pastor and People, but between you and the resurrected Christ. Ours is a service of Word, Sacrament, and Prayer and sought to be conducted according to Scriptural guidance. But we have never heard it called “stuffy.” We have heard testimonies that say, “The Lord is in this Place.”

The care of little ones during worship in a safe, attractive, and appropriately staffed nursery is available. But infants and children are always welcome in the worshipping community. As Dr. Milton put it, “The sights and sounds of children giggling, chatting, or wiggling are the evidences of life.”

Music is central to worship according to Scripture. You might hear a folk ballad on guitar and violin, or chamber music from the sixteenth century. Hymnody, the unique musical language of the Church, is treasured. In a world of technology and image we think it is important to worship God in simplicity. We actually sometimes pause in the service to be still and quiet. Other times we laugh at the joyful reality of a God who loves us as we are. There is serene order. There is blessed spontaneity. Above all there is a peace that passes all understanding. It is no wonder, the, that our pastor speaks of such a worship service as a divine source of deep soul-healing.
