Trinity Chapel Charlotte was founded in order to reach those folks who are settling in South Charlotte. We are blessed to live in the beautiful Carolinas (NC and SC). With the majestic mountains to the west of us, the picturesque Carolina beaches to the east, and the rolling green hills of the Piedmont in-between, we are just about in paradise. But even so, moving can be hard. Being without community is gut-wrenching. Every member of the family may feel the sense of dislocation. You may even feel the deep pain of isolation. And that just doesn’t feel too much like paradise, does it?
God did not mean for you to be alone. He created the Church as a place to belong. It is not a perfect place but we serve a perfect Savior. Jesus said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.“ What we learn in Scripture is what ancient Israel experienced: if God is with us, even when we are “on the move,” we are at home. The Lord is home.
Our new fellowship, called Trinity Chapel, is part of a historic, Christ-centered, Bible-believing Presbyterian Church (the ARP Church). But our core group comes from a variety of backgrounds: from Baptist to Roman Catholic. We assure you: ALL are welcome at Trinity Chapel. And on Sunday, September 23, at 11 AM, we are hosting a kind of “open house.” We are calling this event, “Welcome Home Sunday.” Welcome Home Sunday—September 23rd, 2018—is designed to welcome those of you who are new to our community or those of you who are seeking to find a church home. On that Sunday, we will offer a free book and a free musical album by our founding pastor, Dr. Michael A. Milton. Dr. Milton is a long-time pastor, retired Army Chaplain, retired Chancellor of a graduate school of theology, a seminary professor, author, and composer. He has written over 30 books and recorded 5 albums of original music. You can learn more about the pastor here. Dr. Milton will be conducting worship and bringing a special Bible message about “Home.” He and his wife, Mae, look forward to meeting you. And if you haven’t experienced the beauty of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs led by our Princeton-trained (Westminster Choir College) Director of Music, Don Piers, you will be in for a rich soul-stirring experience. Perhaps, the most amazing feature of Trinity Chapel, though, is that we are just a body of believers who are “sinners saved by grace.” Nothing more, but nothing less. And there is a seat waiting for you.
The gifts offered that Sunday are for everyone who can come to worship. But we don’t want you to come just for the gifts. The gifts are just our humble way to say “Welcome.” No one is ever recruited. No one is ever enlisted. But we do pray the Holy Spirit will enfold you and your family into the church home where you can grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and find meaningful relationships, purposeful ministry, and the love of Jesus.
So, mark it down: Sunday, September 23, 2018, 11:00 am worship. Childcare is always available. Trinity Chapel Charlotte meets at the historic and beautiful Antioch United Methodist Church, just outside of the entrance to Brookhaven development.
Welcome home. And Welcome to a place to belong.
Oh, one more thing: if you want to come before that Sunday (or afterwards), you are always welcome at your parish church, Trinity Chapel.
